In some scenarios, a Visit may need to be assigned to multiple Resources that are not part of a Resource Group that regularly works together. As such, Axsy Scheduler supports the ability to assign a Visit to multiple Resource in an ad-hoc manner.

Ad-Hoc Assignment of a Visit to Multiple Resources

To assign a Visit from the Visit list to multiple users, select the "Multi-Assign" button. Doing so will put a checkbox next to each Resource in the Resource list. Checking a Resource's check box in this mode will highlight their swim lane in dark grey and then, drag-and-dropping a Visit from the Visit list to one the highlighted swim lanes will assign the Visit to all highlighted swim lanes.

When in multi-assign mode, checking a Resource will highlight their swim lane in dark grey

Drag-and-dropping a Visit from the Visit list to one of the highlighted swim lanes will assign the Visit to all highlighted swim lanes

Adding Additional Resources to an Already Assigned Visit

It's also possible to add an additional Resource to an already assigned Visit. Clicking a Visit already in a swim lane - outside of the drag-and-drop "handle" area - will bring up an option menu with the ability to select "Assign Additional Resource". Selecting that option will change the Axsy Scheduler UI into a mode allowing selection of an additional Resource, which can be done by clicking anywhere in their swim lane. 

NOTE: Only one additional Resource can be added at a time for already assigned Visits.

For already assigned Visits, the menu gives the option to assign additional Resources

After selecting the option to assign additional resources, clicking on any Resource's swim lane will add them to the Visit

Modifying a Visit with Ad-Hoc Multi-Resource Assignment

When a Visit is ad-hoc assigned to multiple Resources, the drag-and-drop "handle" icon will change from an 8-dot icon to a multi-resource icon. This icon will still act as a drag-and-drop handle to allow changing the start time for the Visit. Unlike with Resource Groups, such a change can be made from the swim lane of any assigned Resource, and the change will reflect for all Resources. Similarly, the ability to change the duration of the Visit from the left or right edge of the Visit block can be done from any Resource swim lane and the change will reflect for all Resources.

Visits in a Resource's swim lane that have been ad-hoc multi-assigned will have their "drag-and-drop" handle replaced by a multi-resource icon that can still be used to drag-and-drop the Visit to a different start time

NOTE: Drag-and-dropping a Visit from one Resource's swim lane to a different Resource's swim lane can only be done for single-Resource assignments.

Unassigning a Visit with Ad-Hoc Multi-Resource Assignment

With multi-Resource Visits, unassigning a Visit can either be done for all Resources or a single Resource. This is done by clicking such a Visit in a swim lane - outside of the drag-and-drop "handle" area - which will bring up an option menu with the ability to select "Unassign Resource" or "Unassign All Resources".

For already assigned multi-Resource Visits, the menu gives the option to unassign just the single Resource or all Resources

Additionally, when expanding a multi-Resource Visit in the Visit list, the "Unassign" button can be used to unassign the Visit from all Resources.
